Rouen is a city that rewards walking, which is unusual for a place so easy to reach from Paris. The medieval centre survived enough of the war to keep its shape, and the streets behind the cathedral are still lines of leaning timbered houses with the upper floors overhanging the pavement. It was one of the largest cities in medieval Europe, the seat of the Dukes of Normandy, and for four centuries a serious rival to Paris.
Two things draw most visitors. The first is the cathedral, whose west front Monet painted more than thirty times in different light and which was briefly the tallest building in the world. The second is Joan of Arc, tried and burned here in 1431 in a market square that now holds a modern church built in the shape of an upturned boat. Beyond that there is the Gros Horloge, an astronomical clock spanning a street on a Renaissance arch, and a fine arts museum with a genuinely good Impressionist collection. Rouen also pairs perfectly with Giverny, which is on the way.
Any address in Paris or the Paris region, and all three airports.

Beauvais is closer to Rouen than either of the Paris airports, which suits guests flying with the low-cost carriers. We track every flight and adjust to the real landing time.
Versailles, the western suburbs, Disneyland Paris or a private address. We start from where you are without routing you through the city centre.
We do not publish one fixed distance from Paris to Rouen, because there is no such single figure. Rouen is north-west of the city, down the Seine. A guest starting from Beauvais is much closer than a guest starting from Orly, and even within Paris the difference between the sixteenth arrondissement and Bercy is real. Printing one number would mislead most people who read it.
The calculator above asks the routing service for the genuine road route between your own pickup point and Rouen, then shows you the road distance in kilometres and the driving time before any price appears. As a rough guide, guests leaving central Paris outside peak hours are usually in the car for around an hour and a half, normally by the A13.
If you plan to stop at Giverny on the way, which many guests do, the total distance driven is higher than the direct route. Tell us and we will price the day as a hire with a stop rather than as a single transfer.
Notre-Dame de Rouen is the obvious starting point. The west front is a thicket of late Gothic stonework, deliberately asymmetrical, and the cast-iron spire made it the tallest building in the world for four years in the 1870s. Richard the Lionheart's heart is buried in the choir.
The Gros Horloge spans the main shopping street on a Renaissance arch, and you can climb into the belfry for a view over the roofs. Place du Vieux-Marche is where Joan of Arc died; the church there, finished in 1979, incorporates sixteenth-century stained glass rescued from a bombed church nearby.
The Abbatiale Saint-Ouen is arguably the more beautiful of the two great churches and far quieter. The Musee des Beaux-Arts holds Caravaggio, Velazquez, Monet, Sisley and a strong Gericault room, and the Aitre Saint-Maclou is a plague cemetery courtyard with carved skulls and bones on the timbers, unlike anything else in France.
A suggestion only, and easy to change on the day. Your chauffeur follows your plan.
Your chauffeur collects you at your hotel and takes the A13 west along the Seine valley.
Optional but popular in season. Two hours in Monet's gardens, then twenty-five minutes on to Rouen.
Cathedral, Gros Horloge, Place du Vieux-Marche and lunch in the old streets. All of it is walkable.
The Musee des Beaux-Arts and Saint-Ouen, or continue to Honfleur and Etretat if you are making a longer loop. Back in Paris for the evening.

Three large cases in the Executive Eco, seven in the Premium Van. Useful if Rouen is a stop on the way to the Normandy coast rather than a return trip.
Everything worth seeing sits inside a few pedestrian streets, so there is very little walking between sights. That makes Rouen easier with young children than most French cities.
Prices are built on the real road distance returned by the routing service, never on a straight line between two points. Tolls, fuel and the chauffeur's time are already included.
Around an hour and a half from central Paris outside peak hours. From Beauvais it is shorter, from Orly longer. Enter your real pickup address in the calculator above for the routed distance and time.
Yes, and it is the most popular combination on this route because Giverny is directly on the way. Giverny in the morning, Rouen in the afternoon, back to Paris in the evening is a comfortable day.
It can easily fill one, but many guests use it as a half day paired with Giverny, Honfleur or Etretat. Both work; it depends whether you want depth or coastline.
Yes. The old town is entirely walkable, so we drop you at one edge, wait, and collect you where you finish. Tell us your rough timings and we will quote the day as a private hire.
Yes. Honfleur, Etretat and Deauville are all within reach of Rouen and we run transfers throughout Normandy. Message us with the route and we will confirm the timings honestly.
Yes. Beauvais is on the Rouen side of Paris, which makes it a practical starting point. We track the flight and meet you in arrivals with a name sign.
Yes. The figure the calculator gives for your route and vehicle is the figure you pay, with no meter and no traffic surcharge.
The medieval centre is largely pedestrian. That is an argument for a private car rather than against one: your chauffeur handles the drop-off, the parking and the pickup, and you never think about it.
