Versailles sits south-west of Paris, close enough to be an easy half day and far enough that how you travel makes a real difference to what you get out of it. The public route works, but it is a route: a train, usually a change, a walk at the far end, and then the queue. On a busy morning that whole sequence can eat the part of the day you actually came for.
A private transfer collapses it into one leg. The chauffeur collects you at your hotel entrance or apartment door in Paris, or inside the arrivals hall if you are coming from an airport, and sets you down as close to the entrance as the traffic arrangements on the day allow. Your bags stay in the car. Nobody reads a timetable.
The same applies going the other way. Plenty of our Versailles work is the return: people who have finished at the château in the late afternoon, are tired, are carrying more than they left with, and would rather be driven back to their Paris hotel than stand on a platform.
Versailles is one of the most visited places in France, and the pattern of a day there is fairly predictable. The pressure builds after the château opens, as coaches and organised groups arrive together and the security queue at the entrance lengthens. Getting there early, before that wave, changes the experience of the State Apartments completely.
That is the practical argument for a car. A private transfer leaves at the time you choose rather than the time the timetable allows, so an early start is a decision rather than a logistical exercise. If you would rather do the reverse and arrive later in the afternoon, when the groups are thinning out and the gardens are at their best, that works just as well — and you are not watching the clock for the last comfortable train back.
One fixed point to plan around: the château is closed on Mondays. Check the current opening hours and ticket arrangements on the official site before you book anything, since they change with the season and with events. We can drive you on any day you like, but there is no sense arriving on a day the doors are shut.
Paris ↔ Versailles has a set price, the same in both directions: €85 in the Executive Eco and €150 in the Premium Van VIP. Every other transfer is priced on the real road distance of your route. No airport supplement, no night surcharge, no booking fee; tolls and fuel are included.
From an airport or from outside Paris, what you pay depends on where you start: Versailles from Charles de Gaulle and Versailles from Beauvais are very different journeys. The calculator above measures your own route, shows the driving distance and an estimated driving time, and prices both vehicles before you commit to anything.
Versailles is a working town of its own, and a good number of our passengers are not going to the palace at all. Hotels in the centre and near the château are a common destination, particularly for people who want to be at the gates when it opens and have decided to stay the night before rather than travel out early.
Private addresses are just as normal: a family visit, a wedding, a rented house for a week, an office. As with Paris, all we need is the full street address and the number. The streets around the château are broad and straightforward, but parts of the older town are narrower and busier than they look on a map, so anything you can tell us in advance about where the car can stop is useful.
If you are staying in Versailles and want to see more of the area, the same car can take you on from there. Chartres, Giverny, Fontainebleau and Chantilly are all sensible onward runs, and Paris and its airports are of course routine.
Versailles is booked from all three Paris airports as well as from the city itself, and it is often the first stop of a longer trip rather than a day out from a hotel.
Any arrondissement, door to door, at the hour you choose rather than the one the timetable offers.
Paris transfers →Across the north of Paris after a long flight, with the chauffeur meeting you inside arrivals and your flight tracked.
CDG transfers →The closest of the three airports to Versailles, which makes it a natural first stop straight off the aircraft.
Orly transfers →A long way north of the city and poorly served by public transport, which is exactly where a private car is worth it.
Beauvais transfers →Booked as its own journey with its own time, so there is a confirmed car waiting when you have finished for the day.
How pricing works →Chartres, the Loire Valley, Normandy or anywhere else in France, starting from your Versailles address rather than Paris.
Long distance transfers →A Paris address, a terminal at CDG, Orly or Beauvais, or an address in Versailles for the return.
Early for the opening, later for a quieter afternoon. We suggest a departure time if you are not sure.
The calculator measures the road distance of your route and prices both vehicles before you book.
The chauffeur comes to the door, handles the luggage and drives you straight there for the agreed price.
If the car and chauffeur stay with you for the day, Versailles fits comfortably alongside another stop. These are priced as a day trip rather than as separate transfers.
The palace in the morning and Monet's garden in the afternoon, awkward by train and simple by car.

North and south-west of the city in a single day, which only really works with your own driver.
View destination →We set you down as close to the entrance as the traffic and access arrangements on the day allow, which is usually a short walk. Those arrangements vary with events and with how busy the site is, so the chauffeur will take you to the nearest sensible point rather than promise a particular kerb in advance.
Monday, when the château is closed. Beyond that, opening hours and ticket arrangements change with the season and with events, so check the official Versailles site for the day you have in mind before you book the car.
It depends on where in Paris you start and the hour you travel, so a single figure would be misleading. Put your address into the calculator above for the driving distance and an estimated time on your own route. Whatever the traffic does, the price does not change.
Yes. Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Beauvais are all normal starting points. Give us your flight number, we track the flight, and the chauffeur meets you inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name.
A transfer is a one-way journey, so the car does not wait. If you want it to stay with you for the visit and bring you back afterwards, ask for a day trip instead and we will quote for the full itinerary. Send us your timings on WhatsApp.
Yes, and it is a common booking. Give us the full street address and the building number. If you already know the street is narrow or the entrance is hard to reach, tell us when you book and we will plan the approach.
The rates are per journey, not per person, so the case is strongest for families and groups. For two people it is still a straightforward comparison: put your route into the calculator, see the figure, and weigh it against the connections and the time. Nobody needs to be talked into it.
Yes. Your Versailles address works as a pickup for any onward journey, whether that is back to an airport, on to Chartres or the Loire, or across to Normandy. See long distance transfers for how those are priced.
