Chenonceau is the chateau that spans a river. Its long gallery rests on a series of arches over the Cher, and the reflection in the water is one of the most photographed sights in France. It is smaller and far more intimate than Chambord, richly furnished, filled with flowers cut every morning from its own garden, and it carries a history shaped almost entirely by the women who owned and defended it, from Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici onwards.
By public transport it is a slow trip: a train to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps or Tours, a regional connection to the small Chenonceaux halt, and a return that has to be timed carefully. A private transfer takes the calculation out of it entirely. Your chauffeur collects you at your door, drives straight to the chateau, waits while you visit, and either brings you back to Paris or carries on to a second chateau. You decide when to leave and when to go home.
Any address in Paris or the Paris region, and all three airports.
Lobby pickup at any hour, including the early departures that make a Loire day comfortable rather than rushed. There is no surcharge for leaving before dawn.
We track your flight and meet you in arrivals with a name sign. If your onward stay is in the Loire, going straight there from the airport saves an entire day.
We collect equally from Versailles hotels, from the Disneyland Paris resort and from Gare du Nord, Gare de Lyon or Montparnasse.
You will not find a single fixed distance published on this page, and that is deliberate. The road distance from Paris to Chenonceau depends completely on your pickup point. Collection in Montparnasse, collection at Charles de Gaulle and collection at Beauvais produce three different routes with three different lengths, and quoting one number would mislead most readers.
The calculator above solves this properly. It measures the genuine road route between the address you enter and Chenonceau using live mapping data, then returns the driving distance in kilometres and an estimated driving time before showing you the price for each vehicle. Nothing is estimated from a straight line.
As a loose indication only, the drive from central Paris usually falls somewhere around two and a half hours, mostly on the A10. Leaving the city at rush hour, roadworks or a summer weekend can all add to that, so please rely on the calculator rather than on this paragraph for your own trip.

The approach is half the pleasure: a long avenue of plane trees leads from the gate to the chateau, and the building only reveals its famous profile over the river once you are close. Inside, the rooms are furnished rather than empty, with tapestries, sixteenth-century chests, a black-and-white tiled gallery and a kitchen complex built into the piers standing in the water.
Two formal gardens face each other on either side of the entrance courtyard, one laid out for Diane de Poitiers and one for Catherine de Medici, and the chateau keeps its own flower workshop where the daily arrangements are made. There is also a maze, a farm, a small wax museum and a restaurant in the sixteenth-century orangery if you would like a proper lunch on site.
Chenonceau sits in the middle of the most concentrated stretch of the valley, so it pairs naturally with other visits. Amboise, with its royal chateau above the river and Leonardo da Vinci's last home at Clos Luce, is twenty minutes away. Villandry and its extraordinary vegetable gardens lie to the west. Chambord and Blois are to the east. Vouvray and Montlouis, both on the doorstep, produce the local white wine if a tasting appeals more than a second monument.
During the summer there is an evening promenade through the illuminated gardens, which is a quieter and rather lovely alternative to a daytime visit if your schedule is flexible.
A suggestion only. Your chauffeur follows your plan, not ours, and every timing here can be moved.
Collection from your hotel or address. An early start puts you at the gates close to opening, when the gallery over the river is at its emptiest.
Around two hours covers the chateau, the kitchens, both gardens and a walk along the bank for the classic view of the arches from downstream.
The orangery restaurant on the estate, or a village address nearby that your chauffeur can suggest and drive you to in a few minutes.
Amboise and Clos Luce make an easy second stop, or you can spend an hour in a Vouvray cellar before heading back and reaching Paris in the evening.
Give us the ages of the children when you book and the correct seats and boosters are fitted before we arrive. They are never charged as an extra.
Ask to stop and we stop. Service areas on the A10 are frequent and a ten-minute pause makes a long motorway stretch far easier with young children.
Chenonceau is unusually good for children: the maze, the donkeys at the farm and the boat hire on the Cher in summer break up the indoor visiting nicely.
Every quote is built on the real road distance, never a straight line, and the price shown before you book is the price you pay. Tolls, fuel and an English-speaking chauffeur are all included.
The fare is the real road distance multiplied by 2.00 EUR per kilometre in the Executive Eco or 3.20 EUR per kilometre in the Premium Van, subject to a minimum of 90 EUR and 110 EUR. Put your pickup address into the calculator at the top of this page for the exact figure.
Yes, when the trip is booked as a return or as a full day. Your chauffeur stays with the car in the visitor parking and you simply call or message when you are ready to leave.
Yes, and most guests do. Chenonceau with Amboise is a relaxed pairing. Chenonceau with Chambord is a fuller day and works best with an early departure. Tell us the combination you want and we will quote the whole itinerary.
No, we do not sell tickets. Book them on the official Chenonceau website before you travel, especially between June and September, and you can go straight in when you arrive.
Two hours is enough for the interiors and the gardens at a comfortable pace. Allow closer to three if you want to add the maze, the farm and lunch on the estate.
Of course. A one-way transfer to Tours, Amboise, Blois or any address in the region is priced the same way, on the real road distance, and you only pay for the journey you actually make.
Your chauffeur is a professional driver rather than a licensed guide, so he does not lead the visit inside the chateau. Audio guides are available on site, and the chateau also runs guided tours in English.
Talk to your chauffeur. Adding a short stop or changing the order of the day is usually straightforward. A significant change to the total distance may adjust the price, and he will tell you before anything is decided.
Real road distance, fixed price, no surprises on the day.
