Lille sits in the far north of France, close enough to the Belgian border that the architecture, the food and the beer all belong as much to Flanders as to France. Its old town is a compact grid of seventeenth-century brick and stone houses in ochre and red, its Grand Place is one of the handsomest squares in the country, and its museum holds a collection that would be the pride of a city three times the size.

The TGV covers Paris to Lille very quickly, so the honest question is why anyone would drive. The answer is usually luggage, timing or the doorstep. A private transfer collects you from your hotel room door rather than from a platform, carries as many suitcases as you actually have, runs at four in the morning or at midnight, and drops you at the exact address in Lille rather than at Lille-Europe station with a taxi queue in front of you. For families, for business travel with equipment, and for anyone connecting to or from a flight, it is often simply the easier day.

Where We Pick You Up

Any address in Paris or the Paris region, and all three airports.

Your Paris hotel or address

We meet you at the door with help for the bags. Departures at any hour, including the very early ones that a morning meeting in Lille demands.

CDG, Orly or Beauvais

Charles de Gaulle is on the natural road north, which makes an airport-to-Lille transfer particularly straightforward. We track the flight and wait in arrivals with a name sign.

Stations, Versailles and Disneyland

Collection from Gare du Nord, Gare de Lyon, Versailles or the Disneyland Paris hotels is priced exactly the same way, on the real road distance.

Distance and Travel Time

There is no single correct distance from Paris to Lille, so we do not print one. The figure changes with the pickup point: leaving from Charles de Gaulle is meaningfully shorter than leaving from the 15th arrondissement, and leaving from Orly is longer than both. A number chosen for a web page would be wrong for most travellers reading it.

The calculator above measures the actual road route from the address you enter to the address you are going to, using live mapping data, and shows you the driving distance in kilometres together with an estimated driving time. The price for each vehicle follows from that measurement, not from a line drawn across a map.

As a rough order of magnitude only, the run from central Paris to Lille is generally somewhere around two and a quarter hours on the A1, and noticeably less from Charles de Gaulle. Getting out of Paris at peak times is the main variable, so please take your own figure from the calculator.

A narrow street of brick houses in Vieux-Lille

What There Is to See

Vieux-Lille is where most visits begin and end. The streets behind the Grand Place are lined with tall brick houses, independent shops, cheesemongers and small bars, and the whole quarter is walkable in an afternoon. On the square itself, the old stock exchange encloses a courtyard where second-hand booksellers and chess players set up daily, and the ornate former newspaper building next door is worth a moment of your time.

The Palais des Beaux-Arts is the serious cultural draw: after the Louvre it is one of the largest fine arts museums in France, with Rubens, Goya, Delacroix and a remarkable set of eighteenth-century relief maps of fortified towns. A short drive away in Roubaix, La Piscine has installed a museum inside a restored art deco swimming pool, which is one of the most enjoyable gallery spaces anywhere in the country.

Food is a genuine reason to come. This is a region of carbonnade, potjevleesch, maroilles cheese and endless varieties of local beer, served in estaminets that feel warm and cluttered in the best way. Lille is also the home of the merveilleux, a meringue and cream pastry that is worth the detour on its own.

If you are here on the first weekend of September, the Braderie de Lille turns the entire city into an enormous flea market. It is one of the biggest events of its kind in Europe, and it is also the one weekend when arriving with a car requires a little planning, which your chauffeur will handle.

A suggested day, entirely indicative

A suggestion only. Your chauffeur follows your plan, not ours, and every timing here can be moved.

Around 8:00 — departure from Paris

Collection from your hotel or address, straight onto the A1. An early start gives you the whole day in the city and a comfortable return.

Around 10:30 — Vieux-Lille and the Grand Place

A walk through the old town, the stock exchange courtyard and the cathedral quarter, with time for coffee and a pastry along the way.

Around 13:00 — lunch in an estaminet

Carbonnade or potjevleesch and a local beer. Your chauffeur can drop you at the door and collect you afterwards rather than leaving you to walk back.

Afternoon — a museum, then home

The Palais des Beaux-Arts or La Piscine in Roubaix, then the drive back to Paris arriving in the evening.

Travelling with Family

Child seats at no charge

Tell us the ages when you book and the right seats are fitted in advance. We never charge extra for them, whatever the length of the journey.

Stops whenever you ask

The A1 is well served with service areas. A pause costs nothing and makes the drive far easier with small children or anyone who needs to stretch.

Real luggage capacity

The Premium Van takes seven passengers and seven large cases. Nobody travels with a bag on their lap, which is the usual compromise on a crowded train.

Common Questions

How much is a private transfer from Paris to Lille?

The fare is the real road distance multiplied by 2.00 EUR per kilometre in the Executive Eco or 3.20 EUR per kilometre in the Premium Van, with minimums of 90 EUR and 110 EUR. Enter your exact pickup and drop-off addresses in the calculator above for the precise figure.

Is it not faster to take the TGV?

On paper, yes. In practice you have to reach the station, arrive early, manage your own luggage and then find transport at the other end. A private transfer is door to door with no queues and no changes, and for two or more people with bags it is frequently the more comfortable choice.

Can you collect us from Charles de Gaulle and drive to Lille?

Yes, and it is one of our most common northern routes. CDG lies on the way, which keeps the distance and therefore the price down. Your chauffeur tracks the flight and there is no charge for reasonable waiting time.

Do you go on to Belgium?

Yes. Brussels, Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp are all straightforward continuations from Lille and are priced in the same way, on real road distance. Tell us the full itinerary when you book.

Can the chauffeur wait and bring us back the same day?

Yes. Book it as a return or as a day trip and your chauffeur stays with you. Give us a rough idea of your timings so we can plan the day and quote it accurately.

What happens during the Braderie weekend?

Large parts of the centre are closed to traffic. Your chauffeur will know the current arrangements and will set you down at the nearest accessible point, then arrange a sensible meeting spot for the return.

Do you carry sports equipment or oversized bags?

Usually yes, in the Premium Van, but please describe what you are bringing when you book so we can confirm it fits. There is no additional charge for luggage.

How do we pay?

A 30% deposit secures the booking, paid by secure link once we have confirmed your journey in writing. The balance is paid to your chauffeur at the end of the journey, by card or in cash. See our cancellation policy. Ask when you book if you need an invoice for a company or for expense claims.
