Strasbourg stands on the Rhine at the point where France and Germany meet, and the city has spent centuries absorbing both. Its cathedral is a masterpiece of pink sandstone Gothic, its old centre sits on an island ringed by water, and its cooking, its wine and its half-timbered houses belong unmistakably to Alsace rather than to anywhere else in France. It is also the seat of the European Parliament, which brings a very different kind of traveller to the same streets.
It is a long way east of Paris, and people choose a private transfer for practical reasons rather than romantic ones: luggage that will not fit comfortably on a train, a family that would rather stay together, an arrival at Charles de Gaulle with an onward journey the same day, or a business trip where the schedule matters more than the ticket price. Your chauffeur collects you at the door, drives the whole route, covers the tolls and delivers you to the exact address you gave.
Any address in Paris or the Paris region, and all three airports.
Door pickup with help loading the bags, at whatever hour you need. Early departures are normal on this route and never cost more.
Land in Paris and continue east in the same vehicle, without a connecting flight or a station transfer. We track the flight and wait in arrivals with a name sign.
Collection from Gare de l'Est, Gare du Nord, Versailles or the Disneyland Paris hotels is priced on exactly the same basis.
No fixed distance is published on this page, and that is intentional. The road distance from Paris to Strasbourg depends on your pickup point and on where in Strasbourg you are going. Leaving from Charles de Gaulle is not the same as leaving from the 14th arrondissement, and leaving from Beauvais is different again.
The calculator at the top of this page measures the genuine road route between the two addresses you enter, using live mapping data, then shows the driving distance in kilometres, an estimated driving time and the price for each vehicle. The price is built on that measured route, never on a straight line between two points.
As a very loose guide, the drive from central Paris usually falls somewhere around four and a half hours on the A4, before any stops you decide to make. Traffic leaving the city, weather in the Marne valley and holiday weekends all shift that, so please take your own number from the calculator.

The cathedral is the obvious starting point, and it deserves the time. For more than two centuries it was the tallest building in the world, its west front is covered in carving that repays slow looking, and inside there is an astronomical clock that still performs at lunchtime to a small crowd. Climbing the platform gives you the Rhine plain, the Vosges to the west and the Black Forest to the east on a clear day.
Around it, the Grande Ile is entirely surrounded by branches of the river Ill and is a UNESCO World Heritage site in its own right. Petite France, at its western end, is the quarter of tanners and millers, with steep-roofed timbered houses leaning over the water and a set of covered bridges beyond. It is touristic and it is still beautiful.
Alsace also eats and drinks differently from the rest of France. Winstubs serve choucroute, tarte flambee and baeckeoffe alongside Riesling and Gewurztraminer from the vineyards half an hour south. The Alsace wine route running from Strasbourg through Obernai, Riquewihr and Colmar is one of the most attractive drives in the country and is easy to add as a second day.
In December the city becomes something else entirely. The Christmas market here is among the oldest in Europe, dating to the sixteenth century, and it spreads across a dozen squares. It is spectacular, and it is also the period when the centre is busiest, so arriving with a chauffeur who knows the access restrictions saves a great deal of frustration.
A suggestion only. Your chauffeur follows your plan, not ours, and every timing here can be moved.
Collection from your hotel, airport or station with the luggage loaded for you, then onto the A4 heading east.
A stop for coffee, or a genuine detour into Reims for the cathedral and a champagne house, which sits almost exactly on the route.
Delivered to your hotel or apartment door rather than to a station, with help carrying the bags in.
The cathedral and Petite France fill an afternoon. If you have a second day, Obernai, Riquewihr and Colmar are all within an easy drive south.
Tell us the ages when you book and the right seats are fitted before we arrive. They are required by French law and we never charge for them.
Four hours east deserves at least one proper stop and we plan for it. Ask for more whenever you like; the quoted price does not move.
Eight passengers and seven large cases in the Premium Van, plus room for a pushchair and the Christmas market shopping on the way home.
The quote is calculated on the real road distance, never a straight line. Motorway tolls, fuel and the chauffeur's time are all included, and there is no night, weekend or luggage surcharge.
The fare is the real road distance multiplied by 2.00 EUR per kilometre in the Executive Eco or 3.20 EUR per kilometre in the Premium Van, with minimums of 90 EUR and 110 EUR. Enter both addresses in the calculator above for the exact figure.
Yes. The A4 tolls, the fuel and the chauffeur's time are all inside the quoted price. Nothing further is added when you arrive.
Yes, and it is a natural break. Reims sits close to the route and a cathedral visit or a champagne house tour turns the transfer into a much better day. Mention it when you book so we can build it into the route and the price.
Yes. Your chauffeur monitors the flight, meets you in arrivals with a name sign and there is no charge for reasonable waiting time after landing. Luggage travels with you the whole way.
Yes. Baden-Baden, Freiburg, Basel and Zurich are all straightforward continuations from Strasbourg, priced the same way on real road distance. Please tell us the full itinerary when you book.
Access to the centre is restricted and security controls are in place. Your chauffeur will know the current arrangements, set you down at the closest permitted point and agree a practical meeting spot for the return.
Yes. A day covering Obernai, Riquewihr, Kaysersberg and Colmar from Strasbourg works very well with a private car, since the villages are close together and awkward to reach by public transport.
A 30% deposit secures the booking, paid by secure link once we have confirmed your journey in writing. The balance is paid to your chauffeur at the end of the journey, by card or in cash. See our cancellation policy. Ask when you book if you need an invoice for a company or an expense claim.
