Lyon is France's second city in influence if not always in population, built where the Rhone and the Saone come together, with two thousand years of history stacked up the hillsides on either bank. Roman theatres sit above a Renaissance quarter of covered passageways, and below them a nineteenth-century grid of squares and boulevards runs down to the confluence. It is also, by wide agreement, the country's gastronomic capital.
It is a serious drive from Paris, and a private transfer is chosen for particular reasons: you have too much luggage for the train, you are travelling with children or elderly parents, you are landing at Charles de Gaulle and want to continue south without changing terminals, or you simply want a door-to-door journey at a time that suits you rather than at a time set by a timetable. Your chauffeur handles the whole route, the tolls and the bags, and you arrive at the exact address you gave us.
Any address in Paris or the Paris region, and all three airports.
Collection at the door with help loading, at whatever hour you choose. Early starts are common on this route and carry no surcharge.
A frequent request: land in Paris, skip the connecting flight or the train transfer, and be driven straight to Lyon with your luggage in the same vehicle.
We also collect from Gare de Lyon, Gare du Nord, Versailles and the Disneyland Paris resort, priced on the same real road distance basis.
We will not publish a fixed distance for Paris to Lyon, because it genuinely depends on where you start and where in Lyon you are going. A pickup at Beauvais and a pickup at Orly differ by a long way, and a drop-off in the 6th arrondissement of Lyon is not the same as one in Villeurbanne or at Saint-Exupery airport.
The calculator at the top of this page measures the actual road route between the two addresses you enter, using live mapping data, and gives you the driving distance in kilometres, an estimated driving time, and the price for each vehicle calculated from that real measurement.
Purely as an order of magnitude, the drive from central Paris to central Lyon is usually somewhere in the region of four and a half hours on the A6, plus whatever stops you choose to make. Holiday weekends and the summer exodus can lengthen it considerably, so please rely on the calculator for your own journey rather than on this paragraph.

Vieux-Lyon, at the foot of the Fourviere hill, is one of the largest Renaissance quarters in Europe. Its particular secret is the traboules, covered passages that cut through buildings and courtyards from one street to the next, originally used by silk workers moving cloth in the dry. Many are open to the public and finding them is half the fun.
Above the old town, the basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourviere dominates the skyline and the terrace beside it gives the best view over the whole city and, on clear days, as far as the Alps. Just behind it are two Roman theatres still used for concerts, a reminder that Lyon was the capital of Roman Gaul.
On the peninsula between the rivers, Place Bellecour is one of the largest open squares in Europe, and the streets running north from it lead to the Croix-Rousse, the old silk-weaving district with its tall workshop windows and steep stairways. At the southern tip, the Musee des Confluences occupies a striking piece of contemporary architecture where the two rivers meet.
Then there is the food. Lyon's bouchons serve the traditional cooking of the region in small, noisy rooms, the covered market named after Paul Bocuse is a pilgrimage for anyone interested in French produce, and the vineyards of Beaujolais to the north and the northern Rhone to the south are both within an easy drive if you would like to add a tasting to your stay.
A suggestion only. Your chauffeur follows your plan, not ours, and every timing here can be moved.
Collection from your hotel, airport or station, with luggage loaded for you, and onto the A6 heading south.
A stop for coffee at a service area, or a short detour into Beaune or the Burgundy vineyards if you would like to break the journey properly.
Straight to your hotel or apartment address rather than to a station, with your chauffeur helping with the bags at the door.
Vieux-Lyon and Fourviere fill an afternoon comfortably. If Lyon is a staging post, we can continue to Annecy, Geneva, Provence or the Alps on the same booking.
Send us the ages when you book. Correct seats and boosters are fitted before we collect you and are never billed as an extra.
Four hours or more deserves at least one real stop, and we plan for it. Ask for another whenever you want one; it does not change your quoted price.
Eight passengers and seven large cases in the Premium Van, with room for a pushchair. No splitting the family across two taxis at either end.
Long distance fares are calculated on the real road distance, never a straight line. Motorway tolls and fuel are included, and the price you are shown before booking is the price you pay on arrival.
The fare is the real road distance multiplied by 2.00 EUR per kilometre in the Executive Eco or 3.20 EUR per kilometre in the Premium Van, with minimum fares of 90 EUR and 110 EUR. Enter both addresses in the calculator above to see the exact distance, time and price.
Yes. The A6 carries substantial tolls and they are already inside the quoted price, along with fuel and the chauffeur's time. Nothing is added at the end of the journey.
Yes, and it is a good use of the drive. A stop for lunch or a wine tasting in Beaune breaks the journey nicely. Tell us in advance so we can build it into the route and the quote.
Yes, and many guests prefer it to a connecting flight. Your chauffeur tracks the arrival, meets you with a name sign and there is no charge for reasonable waiting time after landing.
Yes. Annecy, Geneva, Grenoble, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and the Alpine ski resorts are all served from Paris or as a continuation from Lyon, priced the same way on real road distance.
Three large cases in the Executive Eco, seven in the Premium Van, with cabin bags on top. If you have unusual or oversized items, describe them when you book so we can confirm.
Yes. There is no night surcharge, no weekend surcharge and no public holiday surcharge. The rate per kilometre does not change.
